Our father Miguel Alarcon founded SURIMAX 45 years ago with the mission of manufacturing and distributing security equipment such as safes, vault doors, security lockers and more. 

In 1996, Miguel’s sons Alejandro and Miguel, got the head of the company. They began exploring new markets outside of Ecuador and started exporting their products to countries such as the United States, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Syria, and Lebanon. After a few years the company won second place in Fedexpor (2015).

High Security Safes was created as a result of the company’s goal to export its products. HSS is the company that represents Surimax’s products outside of Ecuador. 

Surimax has most Underwriters Laboratories Inc (UL) certifications for its safes in the United States. The UL-TRTL-30x6 certification is one of the highest that can be achieved in the U.S. Surimax is among the few companies in the world that has obtained this certification. (UL.com) 

Three years ago Surimax designed the UL-TL-30 and UL-TL-30x6 certified safes made from recycled polymer and it was patented in the United States (US Patent No. 10,519,708). It is the first UL certified safe in the world made of recycled polymer and high density ceramic.
